There are at least two elements to this question: how can I write a speech & how can I write a speech about health and medicine?
As for advice on how to write a speech, I would expect there to be lots of answers to that here on Quora if you search for it, or Google the question for that matter.
As for how to write a speech on health & medicine, several factors come to play:
What is the purpose of your speech? i.e. entertaining, educational, informative, motivational
Who is your audience? i.e. lay people, healthcare professionals, children, youth, adults, seniors etc.
What is your experience?
Are you an expert on the subject?
Do you have a personal health experience that you want to share with the world?
Do you want to change a small piece of the world with your speech?
All of these factors come into play and likely many more.
When it comes to speaking about healthcare issues, research has shown that people do not like to be preached to. In most cases they already know that what they are doing is wrong, or at least probably harmful. They also don’t like to feel guilty or shamed when a so-called healthcare expert tells them they are doing something they shouldn’t be.
There is a trend on newscasts these days to showcase something that is new or on the cutting edge of healthcare technology. These broadcasts aren’t designed to be a comprehensive exploration of the subject, more likely a teaser.
Having said all this, an approach might be to clarify to yourself what the message is that you want to get across. Then back it up with facts and personal stories. A basic strategy for creating and delivering a speech is to make a point, tell a story, make a point. Your story should have purpose and tie into the point you are making.
Good luck with your speech. Thanks for the question!
